- Compugraphic is the vector-based, scalable format that is supported from
- 2.0 onwards, the characters can be (on the appropiate program) of any
- point size, opposite from the previously used Bitmap fonts, which come in
- fixed sizes (i.e. 10, 14, 18 pts.) and become jagged and hideously looking
- if you scale them up... On Workbench 2.0 & 3.x you can use both bitmap &
- compugraphic fonts... Postscript fonts are mainly used on PCs and Macs,
- they can also be scaled/rotated/distorted with no ill effects, on the
- Amiga only a few progs can use them (some DTP progs, Imagine, Lightwave,
- Montage...)

- Aahh... Aegis Videotitler... (brief pause for wiping nostalgia-induced
- tear...). Well, don't know much about shareware ones, but the ones I use
- are ScalaMM (great support for Compugraphic fonts, you can add
- outline/shadow/3D depth/underline/antialias and scale them to any size)
- and Montage (which uses a special font format :^( though there is
- supposedly a 'Postscript Module' that allows to use that kind of fonts,
- I've got no luck trying to obtain this module...). I use Scala daily for
- video titling and interactive presentations and it's simple to use but
- extremely powerful, it allows text scrolls, crawls, anim playback, wipes
- and transitions between IFFs, etc.... Montage is a lot more convoluted to
- use, also allows type effects and even stretching letters in
- non-proportion scale... I use it only when I need truly smooth,
- hi-quality, big text screens since its antialiasing (the smoothing of
- edges so it doesn't looks so jagged) is far superior than Scala's...
- Montage also supports some slideshow effects but it is RAM hungry and not
- very intuitive...
